About Us
Retirement Planning Is More Connected Than Ever.
Social Security, Medicare, taxes, retirement income, survivor benefits, and distribution strategies rarely stand alone. Each decision has the potential to influence another, and overlooking those connections can lead to missed opportunities or unintended consequences.
At HLS Retirement Consulting, we help financial professionals navigate that complexity through thoughtful guidance, practical education, and a broader perspective on the retirement planning decisions that matter most. Our goal is simple: to help advisors recognize planning opportunities, avoid costly missteps, and deliver greater confidence to the clients they serve.
Because retirement isn’t experienced in pieces, and it shouldn’t be planned that way.
HLS Retirement Consulting
Helping Financial Advisors Connect the Dots Across Retirement Income Planning.
Retirement planning has never been more interconnected. A single decision can influence countless others—from Social Security and Medicare to taxes, retirement income, survivor benefits, and beyond. Looking at one piece without considering the others can lead to missed opportunities, unintended consequences, and costly missteps.
At HLS Retirement Consulting, we believe the best retirement decisions are made by looking at the whole picture while never losing sight of the whole person. Because retirement isn’t experienced in pieces, and it shouldn’t be planned that way.
For more than 30 years, Heather Schreiber has partnered with financial advisors, tax professionals, and organizations to navigate the complexities of retirement planning. Today’s advisors need more than answers to individual questions. They need a trusted resource who can connect the dots, recognize planning opportunities, and anticipate how one decision may influence another.
Whether the discussion involves Social Security, Medicare, retirement income distributions, taxation, survivor planning, or another complex planning issue, our goal is to help you deliver thoughtful, well-coordinated guidance that brings clarity, confidence, and greater value to the clients you serve.
We believe retirement planning is ultimately about people. Every recommendation affects someone’s future, someone’s family, and someone’s peace of mind. That’s why we combine technical expertise with genuine partnership—helping advisors build confidence, strengthen client relationships, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people they serve.
Our Commitment
We’re committed to being the resource you trust when the stakes are high and the answers aren’t always obvious.
Whether you’re working through a complex client case, preparing for an important meeting, or navigating new legislation, our goal is to provide thoughtful guidance that helps you uncover opportunities, avoid costly missteps, and deliver greater confidence to the clients you serve.
Because when advisors make better-informed decisions, the people and families they serve benefit for years to come.
Heather Schreiber, RICP®, RSSA®, NSSA®, IRMAA-CP™
Helping people navigate retirement with clarity, confidence, and purpose for more than 30 years.
For more than three decades, Heather Schreiber has helped financial professionals, organizations, and individuals navigate the complexities of retirement planning. Known for her ability to simplify complex topics without oversimplifying them, Heather helps people understand how the many decisions surrounding Social Security, Medicare, retirement income, taxes, survivor planning, and IRA distributions work together to shape long-term financial outcomes.
As Founder and President of HLS Retirement Consulting, LLC, Heather partners with financial advisors and tax professionals nationwide, serving as a trusted extension of their team. She believes the best retirement decisions are made by looking at the whole picture while never losing sight of the whole person. Rather than simply providing answers, Heather helps advisors recognize planning opportunities, anticipate the ripple effects of important decisions, and navigate complex retirement planning challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
A nationally recognized educator, keynote speaker, and author, Heather serves as an adjunct instructor for Surgent CPE and the All-Star Tax Series sponsored by Edward Jones and as an industry expert for The American College of Financial Services' Knowledge Hub+ platform. She is also the author and Editor-in-Chief of Heather Schreiber's Social Security Advisor, a nationally distributed publication that equips financial professionals with timely insights and practical guidance on today's evolving retirement landscape.
Heather holds the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®), National Social Security Advisor (NSSA®), Registered Social Security Analyst (RSSA®), and IRMAA Certified Planner (IRMAA-CP™) designations. Drawing on more than three decades of experience and advanced training, Heather's expertise spans Social Security, Medicare, retirement income distributions, taxation, Roth conversion planning, IRA distribution strategies, survivor planning, and the many decisions that intersect throughout retirement. In recognition of her contributions to retirement education, she received the 2022 NAFA Pillar Award for Outstanding Contributions in Annuity Education.
Away from the stage, Heather lives in Woodstock, Georgia, with her husband, Eric, and their family. As a family caregiver for her mother, who is living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia, she has experienced firsthand how quickly life can change—and how important thoughtful planning becomes during life's most difficult seasons. That journey has strengthened her belief that retirement planning is never just about rules, regulations, or numbers. It's about helping people make informed decisions that support the life they've worked so hard to build.
Whether she's speaking to thousands from a conference stage, consulting on a complex client case, or educating consumers about retirement, Heather's mission remains the same: to help people navigate retirement with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
